[Graduate School] Application for Guest Students
Eligibility for Application
Applicants must fulfill both of the following requirements.- College Graduates
- Applicants who are evaluated by the Graduate School of Engineering and Science Committee to posses the scholarly abilities exceeding those of college graduates
<NOTE>
Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) checks them at any case of technology transfer or the entries of researcher or student based on rules of the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act and related laws and regulations.
Therefore, you will be required to change the education or research you (will) desire in case it is (will be) possibly regulated.
It does not affect the result of entrance examination.

Application
- CV with one photo attached (standard form by SIT)
- 1 photo (4 x 3, taken within 3 months of application, front view, hatless, upper body)
- Certificate of Graduation from the school graduated most recently
- Academic Record from the school graduated most recently
- Evaluation fee 10,000 yen (not necessary for SIT Graduates)
- In the case of foreign applicants, the following documents are necessary.
1. (If you are taking a Japanese subject) Copy of Japanese Language Proficiency Test (N1) result.
2.Covenant (Standard form by SIT, written guarantee by the applicant’s guarantor)
3.Copy of the applicant’s Residence Card or Passport

Tuition
- Enrolment fee 30,000 yen (15,000 yen for SIT Graduates)
- Study fee 15,000 yen for 1 credit

Eligibility for Application
For those who have received or expected to receive a master’s degree.
(*It is desirable for foreign students to have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level N1.)

2024 Fall Semester
(1) Pre-ConsultationThe supervisor/professor will confirm with you in advance whether or not you will be accepted into their laboratory.
Application Guideline and designated forms (1, 2, 3) for pre-consultation can be downloaded from Designated forms (227KB).
Submit all the required documents via the website “ The Admissions Office (TAO)”
Please access to the “【non-permanent student】2024 Fall Pre-consultation for Research Students(Master)” in TAO.
Pre-consultation must be completed by June 7th, 2024
You may not proceed with the application without the informal acceptance of the supervisor/professor.
(2) Application
Submit all the required documents via the website ” The Admissions Office (TAO) ”

(2) Abstract of Master’s or Doctoral Thesis –Designated form 2
(3) Research Plan –Designated form 3

(5) Certificate of (expected) Completion from the last graduate school attended
(6) Academic Transcript from the last graduate school attended
(7) English Test Score Report (TOEIC® L&R、TOEIC® S&W、TOEFL® iBT、IELTS Academic、GTEC(4 Skills for Professionals / Students))or Document certifies that have obtained a degree from a higher education institution by taking classes and receiving research guidance etc. in English < Those who have obtained a degree from a higher education institution by taking classes and receiving research guidance etc. in English only> *

Expenses
1. Examination FeeJPY35, 000
– paid at the same time the application is submitted
2. Academic Fee
- Registration Fee: JPY 59,000(*Graduates of SIT: JPY 29,500)
- Research Guidance Fee (one year): JPY 300,000
- Research Guidance Fee (half a year): JPY 150,000
- Experiment and Practice Fee: Actual expenses(*Depends on the research field)
*SIT will announce the payment period for the Academic Fee at a later date.
Enrollment period
Enrollment period for research students is half a year (October 1st, 2024 - March 31st, 2025).Decision Notification
